I have about 40 acres of trees, and when we dig trees in spring, by the time June rolls around, most of the burlap is already rotting from the top, by fall the roots are growing through the side, and by the next year there is no burlap left. I would say the reason the trees are dying is probably from trees holes not being wide enough and not enough water after planting.
