even after all this time, every now then driving up around Sutters Creek, Angles Camp ext....(just a little north of where I live and where the gold rush started) you can still see the evidence of damage those monitors did all in the name of mining.
Should see not to far from my shop, City of Daly City, was a broken sewer line and a heavy rain storm combo, but a whole city block fell to the Pacific ocean. To this day, they still worry that they didn't stabilize the hillside. The work that they did though was featured in that soil magizine that comes with the irrigation mag. Forgot both names.
