If you can't pull a individual grass plant out of the ground by tugging on it by hand then it is ready to mow. Keep the mower blade sharp and mow when it's dry (late afternoon) for best result's. I would mow as low as you can, but that's lot of work. This is bermuda, right? That grass can handle the low mowing but bermuda will be set back by overseeding. Expect the rye to hang around til early May, expect a spotty transition, but the rye will stripe up good for you.
