Yepp, I figured you guys were mostly fescue and KBG. You guys have the perfect grass for striping which is nice. As far as making it prickly, not at all. Zoysia has very, very, very soft blades. I can walk on it barefooted and it feels as if I'm walking on rubber. If you had bare or thin spots it sure wouldn't feel nice, but generally Zoysia the shorter you cut it, the better it performs or in other words the more shoots that come up and the denser it grows. It grows thick enough to where it will give a rotary mower hell and bog it down if the lawn is kept right.
