The only time we list labor separate is on irrigation and lighting service. Everything else is an all inclusive price. As another said above, people won't think twice about paying a plumber or electrician $120 an hour, but when it comes to our trade they would think were charging to much. I can imagine what some customers faces would look like if they actually saw my labor rates. We have a big instal going on right now, last week we had 17 of our employees on the site at the same time. Just running the numbers in my head, we had a guy making $40 an hour, 2@ $35 an hr, 2 around $30 an hour, 6 making around $25 an hr, and the rest all in the high teens. If I actually listed my cost separate (plus their associated overhead and markup), customers would think I was nuts.
Why do people not respect us as they do other tradesmen? Because every Tom, Dick, and Harry doesn't think he can be a plumber or electrician!
