Bidding a New Wal-mart Super Center

I am looking to find a member who has worked for wal-mart in the past on a new store. We were contacted today by the general contractor about bidding all the landscaping and the retaining walls of this very large project. The retaining walls will be in the hundreds of thousands of square feet range and I am looking for some one on this site that has experience with a wall project this big. We do a large amount of retaining walls, and have a lot of experience in building walls but are looking for some one we can sub some of the work to. I have a lot of general question about dealing with wal-mart in general.

We've done a couple of SuperCenters here in Illinois. Never any major problems.

Be careful what you take on. I had a chance 2 years ago to bid a large wall for a new applebee's. This wall was about 300' long going to as high as 55' in some places. I have a lot of experience also but i felt that is wasent for me. Some times big jobs are for big boys and i will admit im not. This was one that there was a deadline so the store could open, i dont like to be rushed. They ended up getting a mexican crew to do the job and it looked like they did a pretty good job. I had an older guy that was my mentor told me once some times big jobs dont always work out. You might stand back and say i built that wall but i didnt make money. Im not trying to discourage you but i would look at all of the negative sides first. Will you be able to pull draws?

I just found out from my brother that in order to bid the retaining wall part of the project that you have to have at least 100,000 square feet of wall experience. So it looks like we will bid the landscaping parts of it only.

Never be to proud to walk away. The job i was talking about at first i thought it would set me for life ( big money ) But it could also ruin you for life: not getting paid, liability, and all the jobs you put off trying to get it done.
My block sales rep told me that on big commercial jobs dont expect to make the money you do on residental.

No help with walls,there is a big walmart in lexington with a huge wall on Richmond road i would say it is 50 feet high it's huge.

MowPro I know that wall your talking about, that thing is huge! One of the biggest retaining walls I have ever seen.
