Trimmer attachment advice please...

Hello all, the trimmer I'm planning on purchasing is the Stihl FS-90. I see that there are attachments available for it. There's an edger head, hedge trimmer head, etc. My question is are these attachments worth it or do I want to buy a separate edger, hedge trimmer and so on? I'm just starting out this season and any advice is much appreciated! --- Thx!

I'm starting out this year, and I recently purchased the same trimmer. I figure I'll buy the attachments as I need them and swap them until it gets too cumbersome and time consuming to make it worth while, then go buy a dedicated unit for each task.

If you plan on doing it a lot, I'd suggest going with the Kombi system, a few dollars more, but very easy to change things out, and i've heard nothing but good things about them.

well for the hedgers and other stuff, you'll only use them every once in a while so its not a big deal. but for the edger, if you finish trimming a lawn you then have to take the trimmer head off, put the edger on and when finished edging, go back and put the trimmer back on. for now that would be ok, but when you have a lot of work to do in one day. its going to be very time consuming. but by then you'll be able to afford to buy a seperate edger. we just picked up one of those kombi ones. a stihl fs90. a lot easier then switching out the heads everytime you want to use something.

Raven, thanks for your help again! Are these "combi" systems commercial rated and will it stand up as well as the FS-90?
