Kawasaki kbl26a
This trimmer is running rough as guts, i put a new spark plug in and checked the air filter, in all my years a spark plugs always fixed my problems, so i am uncertain what the next step will be ? any suggestions ?? btw how do you tell a clutch is on the way out ?

You say the engine is running rough then you ask about the clutch. Are you saying the engine is not running right or are you saying it's vibrating too much? It threw me when you asked about the clutch.
Have you pulled the spark arrester out yet?

If it is only worn then you will lose head speed under load but not engine speed, if it has broken the clutch spring the line head or cutter blade will turn when you are trying to start the unit or never stop spinning(head) at idle speeds.
You will also need to supply more info as Khouse stated for your first issue.

Well clutches have been in the news quiet a lot lately, i have never done one so i thought it might be a long shot, but from that info its not the clutch, will try the spark arrestor,,, basily its down on power maybe 40% and runs rough, anyway first up spark arrestor ,thanks
