RainMaster Pro Max or Pro Max UA?
I've been through alot of threads about the kind of remote to buy and see that most pro's recommend the RainMaster. Do I need a Pro Max or the Pro Max-UA for use with Hunter and Rain Bird controllers? 99.9% or our controllers are one of those two brands. Also, what else do I need to use the remote with those controller brands... pigtails, ect...?
thanks |

You've come to the right place. This just so happens to be my favorite thread topic. If you are trying to find a remote for universal use meaning you want to be able to connect it to any controller with the proper pigtail then the three on the market for that purpose are.
RainMaster Pro-Max UA TRC Commander TRC Sidekick The Pro Max is strictly for the RainMaster Controller only. Though any remote is better than no remote at all I have a strong preference for the RainMaster ProMax UA. I won't go into a myriad of details on it but I've used them all and that is the one I want in my truck. If you send me a PM. I'll provide you with much more helpful info.

Ditto. If you can afford it, the RM UA is the way to go, we have two, one without the UA for our RM clocks and a UA version for the others.

Thanks for the info guys... I knew most of you guys prefered the RM, but wasn't sure if I needed the UA for RB and Hunter controllers. The best price I've found new for the UA is $1000 + tax at JD.

That is a very good price for a new one.

Plus RM has a $100 rebate on the UA model right now.
I was reading that someone was used clips on the pigtails to quick connect to controllers, is that a good method or should we plan on installing pigtails on all the boxes? How much do pigtails cost? |
