i am looking to buy a single cab stake body or landscape body dump. it will be used mostly for grass and mulch. sometimes rocks maybe. of course it will pull an 18ft trailer. well will an f350 be heavy duty enough for what i am going to use it for or would i need a 450?

A freind of mine got a 07 3500 gmc gasser. He was put rearwheel bearings, trans etc. I always say if you get the best to start with it will last longer.

I think a F350 would be fine

The one ton dump is the most commonly used dump truck in the industry. I would say it is fine, but to make sure you don't wear it out prematurely I would stay within the payload.

How soon are you looking to buying the f350? If you give me another week I will be able to tell you how it pulls an 18' trailer with equipment in it. I just have to finish painting the inside of my trailer. As far as grass, mulch and leaves go I have no problems carrying that. However the most topsoil or stone I will carry is 3 yards.

3 Yards of stone or dirt is in the neighborhood of 6000 lbs, way over a 1ton truck rateing.

It carries it no problem. The total rating for my f350 dump is 13,000 gvwr

So for you to be legal hauling 6,000 lbs your truck could only weigh 7,000 lbs. I don't think any f-350 dump body weighs 7,000 lbs.

Our F350 with a dump bed weighs in the neighbor of 7000 lbs, maybe the newer F350's are heavier.

The truck by itself weighs 5897lbs. The dump body weighs 1600lbs so that leaves about 2.5 tons for carrying. So yes I am slightly over but I rarely carry that kinda of weight.
