what's the biggest problem with tarp straps? they dry rot and break. what if there was something that would help prevent dry rot?

hey got nothin to lose right?

bought some new straps on sunday, laid them out in the sun yesterday, sprayed them down and waited an hour. checked on them to find that the rubber aborbed just about all the ff

i wiped off the very minimul excess then turned the straps over and sprayed the other side. after an hour i again wiped off the very minimal excess (as is seen by the practically still new rag i used) and was surprised by how well the rubber soaked up the ff

now i have never done this before but i would like to believe the straps will repel water better than ever, be protected by the suns rays to a point and it will hopefully take a lot longer for them to dry rot

time shall tell

That is a different application and one I'll be waiting to hear results about. We don't usually recommend saturating rubber like that but time will tell for this particular application.

there's only one way to find out if something will work and that's try it

btw if it don't work can i sue?

since idk when i'll use any of them (just like having them on hand) maybe what i'll do is leave one of the straps outside 24/7 so it can experience all mother nature has to offer then compare it to a non exposed strap sometime in the future

I like the idea of the test, but once you step outside the box you are one your own!

Dan this works great on the straps, we did it last year for the tie downs for the salt truck, before we would have to replace the straps about 4 months from the sun and salt. Now we have had them on since last year. It also works great on treating tires on trucks, it looks great on them and dont have to treat over and over.

ok dan here we go, i took and put a treated and a non treated strap on a fence outside my place. i screwed them in place, slightly taut and, will leave them there for an undetermined amount of time. mother nature can do her best and we shall see if the ff makes any difference at all
