How often do you use your ROPS???

How often do you use your ROPS? We all know that we should, but how many of us actually use them?

Personally, I use them ALL the time! I even use the ROPS and the seatbelt when there isn't a single slope on the property. It has just become a habit for me. If I need more height clearance, I fold them down and them put them back up ASAP. Like my dealer said, the one time you don't use them is when something bad will happen!

Just on certain jobs so not that often. I have only used it a few times in the last 5 years.

I only use it sometime. Depending were. I'm at. But I keep it up a little bit enough that if it does roll I won't get smashed if I can duck down and I can still get under trees.

never use them, I have the x540 for the hills and there are defiantly NO ROPS on it lol

They are there for a reason. I have made several calls to farming accidents but most were results of operator fatigue. A couple of pro landscaper accidents. All walked away. I do use mine all the time because like seatbelt. They will make a difference. I did stop at a scene of an tractor type mower (486xjohn deers). It was in its side at the bottom of a 9 foot deep drainage ditch. The lady driving lucked out. She was thrown off before it hit bottom. She is so lucky. She told me she fell asleep and drove in the ditch. So the answer is. I have been fire rescue for 26 years and work as an er nurse during winter. Accidents happen and no one makes appointments for the trauma center. I am older and have seen more....so I wear my seat belt and pay attention to safety devices.
The most experienced operators of any equipment are the ones who have more accidents. I like most of us in here take shortcuts and thats when the mistakes happen. I got a call out a year ago to a tree trimmer in the bucket had fallen. I know him. He is a first class guy and has a super family. He told me he was in a hurry and didnt use safety belt and bucket flipped when he reached out to far. Hope I am not too opinionated but I get enough fire and rescue calls to need more...Stay Safe..for your kids and wife.

Never use them, I think osha made them, If you do step areas I believe you should use them, but none of my flat lots or acreage here in Tulsa needs ROPS, in fact i know more guys have issues with them hitting swing sets and trees than what they are design for.

ROPS on a zero turn is dangerous! We never use them. I take them off when we get the machine if we can. Some the safety crats have designed so you can not remove them. They do allot of damage. Also almost flipped the mower because the ROPS cought on tree branch on a slope. Scarred the hell out of me. ROPS came off that day. Big tractor, skid steer, yes. But on a small machine that is designed or should be designed to get into tight spaces that are a PITA.
