Mulch plate/discharge for scag 48???
I have a scag 48 with an velocity (I think) deck. Like I mentioned on another thread i am starting a LARGE commercial job on the first of June. Its a nursing home and I really need something that will keep stuff from really flying...i.e. the stick I did not see earlier...

I have the Scag OCDC installed on my mower, 48 velocity deck...It works great! As simple as turning a knob and the chute plate covers and blocks anything from coming out, turn the knob back and your oem Scag chute falls back into place and you are side discharging again...I paid $279 and that included installation with my dealer.

I put that Scag one on last year and took it right back off I thought it needed a little engineering work. Now maybe it has improved....but in the meantime I was looking at the one you posted about, but seems not many use it. It looks pretty darn simple. Why not just leave your mulch plate on all the time. We do and take it off if we are doing ponds with tall grass it comes off/on pretty easy.

I have the Chutemaster on a 48" Scag Tiger cat and love it. You didnt say if you are using a walkbehind or ZTR. For a walk behind I would just use the mulch plate but if you are sitting and thus your head is closer to the ground then I would go with the Chutemaster as it works well and you can open the Chute when you dont need to mulch. With the mulch plate on and sitting low, you get all kind of debris going everywhere on the operator.

Its a ZTR....My concern would be hitting something and bending the plate when on the discharge position...is it sheet metal or is it heavy steel?

The Scag oem plate is made of thick steel and goes on and off with 2 bolts. I think they sell for about $88.
