Scag SFW 36 or Exmark Metro 36??

Looking to buy a new mower. Personal use. 36" Deck
Quotes:
$2700 for the Scag SFW with 16hp BS Vanguard(not the Advantage fixed deck)
$2900 for the Exmark Metro with 16hp KAI. Pistol Grip

I want to use a sulky and may consider mulching as well. I saw the Scag was easy to adjust height, so that was a good selling point. I also saw the belts were a little thinner than the avg. Will this not pull a sulky? The belts on the Metro were wider, so I think it would be better? Tough decision for me. First commercial lawn mower purchase. 1/2 acre property and I do not want a ride on mower.

Which one do I buy? Please help.

If you can get an exmark with the ECS handles, It is far more comfortable to use than the normal pistol grip handles. Scag also makes a nice T handle unit as well. Otherwise they are essentially the same machine. I think the scag has an electric PTO while the Exmark has a manual lever for the blades. But like I said they are pretty much the same machine.

I actually have an exmark 36" and a Scag 36" walk behind as well as a Scag 48" walk behind. The Exmark is the oldest and it is still the prefered choice of the crews that do heavy mowing because of the ECS handles. Hope this helps.

Didn't notice that you had mentioned that the Scag was the newer SFW with a floating deck. Can't help you there because I don't know much about it . I do know that the floating decks are great on the bigger machines 52" and up but I am not sure that it is essential or even benficial for a 36".

Got the Scag SFW 36"

Here is a video I did on it to help others see the mower in action since Scag has not yet put a video out on it yet. They have a video on virtually their whole line except this one. Very impressed with it so far.
