Ran a Black Berry for the last few years, had a Droid for a while this summer and went back to the Black Berry. Just switched back to the Droid, and I've gotta say, I think I like it more than the Black Berry.

what does your phone have to do with running your business other than just receiving calls and texts?

Where I operate I have a lot of snowbirds who hire me for maintenance in the summer and I like to deliver before and after pics because they seem to like it and being able to send them right from the phone is handy.

I have an expense tracking app, gps, task timer that outputs to a spreadsheet, a pedometer, analytics for my website(not really necessary) Audible for audiobooks, spotify for music, doubletwist player for podcasts, a calendar for the days scheduled stops, email for if I get a quote request that way and I have it set up so that I get a notification when someone requests a quote on my website.

Apps such as weather so you don't get caught out in the rain and you can download other apps to help you better manage your day

I'll agree that the smartphone doesn't really "help" much at all with the business, other than being a phone. But, the weather radar and ability to see warnings and things is really helpful when you live in Kansas! I can track the rain and storms while I'm on the mower even. Having the smartphone is nice for tunes as well, better than an ipod because I can plug into pandora and use my ear plug headphones to make the days go by much easier.

I'm still hanging onto my blackberry as well. I just can't get into the touch screens, especially for us that usually have dirty hands. Plus they don't generally have belt clips and are much more fragile than the blackberrys.
