new truck possibly .
looking at buying a 2003 ford f250 super duty 5.4 v8 gas xl reg cab long bed . it has around 192k on the miles. really clean , im needing some thing to pull my rig with. the guy is asking like 3500$ for it. good buy ?? or am i just buying a peice of crap?

I agree, I would let a mechanic check it out. Mileage is a little high, but I would not be too turned off by that. I am pulling with a 1995 F250 and it has 271K on it. It uses some oil, but still runs strong and gives me very few problems.

you can find an early 2000's f250 with around 100k for around 7k easy. it will last much longer and serve you better with less down time

I agree with Barrett, especially on a reg cab XL trim. I wouldn't pay more than like 2.5K for that truck. I'd recommend looking for something with lower miles for a little more cash.

Check that tranny...or better yet, have it checked out for you. Worth the money...you (might) never know.

I don't think the 03 is a good deal either sorry haha. I saw an 04 supercab xlt with 74K miles for $9500 asking price yesterday. That's a good deal IMO. I see people still trying to get 10 grand out of these trucks with 150K miles that are almost used up or at least highly likely going to be due for an engine/tranny rebuild in the near future. Just my opinion.
