Engine Replacement?

Question: Apparently someone forgot to check the oil on one of our mowers today, and it was shooting white smoke, knocking, ect. They said it made a loud bang from the OHV, which was leaking, and when they tried to restart it, the flywheel was not catching the mower engine at all. The oil in the engine was VERY low. It is a Kohler 27 Engine, on a Husqvarna LZ6127 that I had just posted about a few days ago. Looking into similar engines goes for about 1500-2500 which is almost what we bought the mower for a month ago. Can this all be fixed by replacing parts, or is the engine pretty much done for at this point?

Sounds like it fragged big time. I'm surprised all the parts stayed inside. Probably seized a piston and broke the wrist pin. A lot of expensive parts and machine shop work. If the block can even be saved.

This is why the OCD in me has already checked fluid levels prior to the crews arriving and rechecking them. I don't tell them that though.

LOL; Only thing is that I personally replaced the oil and re-added more last Saturday! Its only been used twice since then! I always double check and make sure it has enough oil. But I guess at this point I am just SOL...

What you get for buying used.....
