Best Yet LED/Incandescent System Calculator

We're excited to announce the best calculator yet.

It does the following:

• Calculates voltage loss and energy consumption for any combination of LED and/or incandescent fixtures.
• Automatically calculates VA's for LED's.
• Accomodates Daisy Chain, T-Method, Spider Splice or combination of all three.
• Can accommodate up to 30 fixtures on a daisy chain; 60 fixtures on a T-Method; and unlimited number with Spider Splice combinations.
• Automatically populates data for CAST fixtures and transformers and allows you to enter other mfg. products.
• Warns you when wire amperage is too high; and when fixture voltages fall outside acceptable ranges.

Possibly, but it's a very complex calculator and might be hard to create a usable architecture that can be used on such a small footprint - probably better to create an app for an ipad.

Hi Steve. I took the calculator for a test drive and it really is quite slick. A lot of work had to have gone into that. Well done. I can see it's advantages as a tool for newbies getting their head around system design. It will also help those documentarians who keep detailed records of each system installed.

Thanks James, as we work more and more with large LED systems, a calculator like this is essential (even for pros). I recently spec'd a job with 100 LED Perimeter lights (2000 ft. fence.) In a few minutes, I confirmed that the best scenario was 4 runs on two transformers - all runs daisy chains with 25 fixtures each on #10/2. There's no simple way to estimate these types of big systems without a calculator.

Good point. In that case I can see how it would be very helpful. I regularly design residential systems with over 100 LED lamped fixtures across multiple zones/transformers and have never yet had an issue with voltage drop being out of spec. Different scenarios require different tools and knowledge. You do get good at this when you do it regularly.

Have you worked out a formula or rule-of-thumb for these large systems?
