Bed redo, how long would it take?
I got a 20'x3' bed with a cotoneaster on each end and a bunch of random flowers and weeds between them.
Customer wants it all gone and roses planted. step one: Rip it all out. Step two:Plant 4-5 rose bush. step three: add mulch maybe. No fancy machines likely just two guys doing the job. Never done this before, and willing to hear advise. Reason of this post,? How long would it take 1-2 guys to get this done? |

Cut that creepinging cotoneaster off at the base and paint the stump with RU straight from the bottle... dig your holes for the roses, cleaning them up nicely and filling them with water... comeback after lunch and see that they've drained and stick in the roses and flood the holes again, making sure there are no possible air pockets left down around the root ball... charge one full day for the actual work and another half day for one guy to come back twice in the course of the following week to soak them in again...
That's what I'd do... and charge for dumping the plant debris...

Not like your picking and digging each piece out. Find the main parts of the plants dig it out and stuff starts to pull with it, Throw it in the dump trailer pull the other stuff out. Re grade the bed plant the roses add mulch and collect check and go to next job.

That's ok, you don't need to work for everyone. Someone said to me one time, "J. you can't do all the work." It has stuck with me a long time and helped me in many ways.

I haven't gotten past this part yet.
I wouldn't use a fancy machine either, but I sure wouldn't do it by hand. |
