Weed #2..... please help me identify this, and how do I get rid of it?

This lawn is common bermuda.

There is a weed that looks somewhat similar to crabgrass. But I do not think that it is crabgrass. It is darker than the crabgrass in the yard, and also, it does not have the same crown shape at the base that crabgrass does.

I have included three pictures for you -- one far away shot, one medium distance, and one close up.

What is this, and how do I get rid of it?

(notice the dark green stuff in the middle of the bermuda)

I suspect crabgrass. Look for a three or four-fingered seedhead. Look for a dark maroon color to the seed heads in the fall as the temps come down below 70. Perhaps the long dry spell acted like a winter dormancy. I have seen clover, oxalis and other weeds blooming in the fall when they would normally bloom in spring.

Looks like crabgrass, possibly smooth crabgrass to me. You can tell if it is by looking for some red at the base of the stems (most will have this).

I think that you guys are correct. I did a google search for smooth crabgrass and the information that I saw is similar to the stuff in the yard.

FYI..... I hit it with some Scotts weed killer with crabgrass control. It smoked it really hard. I will post some updated pics in a few days.

Thanks for the help!

This is large smooth crabgrass. Sends out growth sometime up to two (2') feet. Generally Drive is the go to for it but on the bermuda, read the label to be sure.

I hit the smooth crabgrass with Ortho Weed Be Gone w/ crabgrass control

In less than a week, it smoked the crabgrass really, REALLY hard.

But fortunately, it did not harm my bermuda at all

Here are some updated pics, just in case anyone else ever has this same problem and wants some info
