Would it be smart for me to get a velky?

Hey everyone, i just purchased a brand new Scag 36" SW. This is my first commercial mower that i have owned, i have operated many walk behinds in the past. i just want to know if it would be a good idea for me to get a velky? I know that i would want a 2 wheel model, i just want to know if it would be a good idea to have such a small walk behind with a velky. i weigh about 235 and am 6'0 and work solo.

I got the 36" Hustler Trimstar with a 2 wheel velke. I weigh 260 and it totes me around no problem.

I have ran my 36" with a velke. I usually do not run a velke on it because it's such a small mower and I only use it in tight back yards. Since it is your primary mower, (it sounds like) than a velke might be a good idea. The mower will easily pull you around. I just don't see much of a point for what I use mine for. Anything bigger than a 36", and you would be a fool not to have a velke.

Pretty much exactly what I was going to say.
I started with a 32" Bob-Cat with Jungle Wheels and I'm about your size.
The 32" are single drive belt units also so you would think it was a problem but, only wet grass on the belt caused a problem for me.

Primary mower, yes indeed. If you have large open areas, you will save your legs. Even if you just use it for certain yards, i think it will be worth it.

velkie x2 is $ well spent

definatley worth it...velke x2...only issue you will have is when it is wet, you may have to not use it but its like this for any velke but other than that its amazing. personally i use single wheel velke but a company i work for on the side has 3 or 4 x2s and a single and personally i think after using the x2 it is much easier to control

I have a velke on my 36" toro WB, and I love the concept, hate the velky. On rough ground it will twist and beat the heck out of you. If all you do is smooth yards though, it should work well.

Otherwise look at the bull rider type that has rotating castors instead of a multi link/multi axis pivot like the velke.

Velke DOES fold up very very nicely though, so def a plus for trailering.
