crazy price increases

I'm so sick of being taken for a sucker when it comes to fuel prices. Just because of the current heat wave, the refineries go down(b.s.) we get to see a .30 price increase in 2 days and still climbing. I was told by Saturday to expect it to jump up another .25 .

How in the heck does the American government, American Business expect the economy to bounce back if people such as ourselves have to take hits like this. Just crazy.

Even back in the 70's, it never went this crazy. Maybe it might be time to regulate petroleum again.

Its just frustrating.

Im confused when people get mad about fuel prices and then expect the government to do something to bring the prices down. What are they supposed to do? What can they do?

Cant regulate it either, did that in the 70's and we ended up with an oil embargo.

Simple, reduce the regulations on drilling and exploration.

Reduce the regulations and time needed to build refineries.

Cut out the waste by bureaucrats so taxes on fuel can be reduced.

Does this make any sense to you?

Not sure how I forgot, but the easiest thing the gubmint can do to reduce fuel prices is by not monetizing the debt. Stop printing money and making it more and more worthless with every sheet of bills coming off the press.

You can't just arbitrarily add money to the pot without making it worth less. Which means we need more to buy it, refine it, and finally pump it into our tanks.

So, there is a whole lotta crap that they could do to lower prices. Not directly, but they can.

Are you aware of qe3?

Oil is traded in dollars and when the dollar value decreases, it takes more dollars to buy the same oil.

The Oil industry was not regulated in the 70's. The US and other Western countries were punished for our relationship with Israel and the fact that the US was not willing to lose our presents to OPEC for the sake of same country.
The Oil embargo had nothing to do with the US, it had everything to do with Nixion going off the Silver Standard and not allowing Israel to cease to exist.
