You heavy equipment guys might appreciate this
Got done with my ripper set-up for my mini skid.
![]() Works way better than I expected. I took into an adjacent field and was able to get it almost all the way down for maximum depth. The machine lugged a bit, but not as bad as I thought for a stupid 27 horse Kohler motor. One of these days I'm going to swap in a 33 horse generac and make the sucker hum. If I got into to super compacted conditions I figured I could take off one or two of the rippers. The whole idea though is to break open the ground before I use a tiller. ...........

Nice man. Whats the angle iron above the plate for? I would add a few gussets to increase the weld area on the tooth mount sleeves

The angle iron was to hold a hitch pin, and then I was just going to take a piece of steel to connect the loader arms to the ripper. That way I wouldn't get pressure against my cylinder when ripping. The whole idea was to be able to do a push or pull ripper, but, I think I'm just going to keep it as a pull style, scrap the angle iron, and just use a 3" cylinder stop to keep the ram from bottoming out. As for the gussets, I'll keep that in mind. In all reality though, the machine only has so much power along with only so much weight, so my gut tells me that I won't have a problem with pressure against the mounts. If they break, you'll be the first to know that I was wrong. ![]() .........

Used it today in a landscaping bed that had old tree roots. Pretty much bent the C-channel used to mount the teeth. The welds held but the lack of the mounts being boxed in was the Achilles heel. Part of me thinks that I straddled the old stump, and thus bending them outward. I was extremely surprised it happened but it did. The machine has more power than I thought. I'll be having a shop re-make the mounting brackets again and boxing in the C-channel along with extra gussets. .............

Looks familiar
I tried both directions. Has better luck pushing than pulling though! |

I was super surprised at my machine in reverse. I was expecting to spin the tracks, but I think the ripper teeth keeps you pulled downward as you go keeping better traction. ....

The ripper was working great though before it broke. Once the ground was ripped up I was able to take the Stihl FS90 with the yard boss tiller head on the end and easily till and grade the area without having to bring in a walk behind tiller. Still had one tine left and thought it was slow I was able to get it done. If you want to borrow it, your more than welcome, might cost a pretty penny though for the shipping. ![]() ..........
