Encore New WB at 36"

This unit looks like it may be a winner. Certainly going to put pressure on Scag in our market. The price is likely in $3K range. If I remember correct that lever is for blade control so no electrical clutch.

So strange. I've never even seen an Encore! Are they actually a player where in your area?

If you're looking for something to put pressure on Scag though, how about the 36" Velke Hydro by Wright? 18HP FS600 Engine (Opposed to Kawi 451 on Exmark/Scag), Pull AND Electric Start, Electric Clutch, includes sweet integration lever for Sulkies, controls almost exactly like Scag, built at least as tough as Scag and much tougher than Exmark, list price right now around $4,300.

My dealer says that Encore is made by Worldlawn. If true I would stay away from them.

world lawn and encore are different brands.

Encore has been around a LONG time, about as old as the ransomes bobcat.

That model mower there has been out for a long time without many changes.

World lawn is actually a good mower too.

World lawn bought the Encore manufacturing facility to better mass produce their mowers. But kept the encore company intact.

World lawn mowers are essentially exmark mowers that are no longer under patent, so can be reproduced now. So when you buy a worldlawn, you are basically getting a 2001-2003 era exmark machine in showroom/brand new condition.
They are cheap because they are older tech, not because they are built like junk.

World Lawn has brand new manufacturing facilities in China, they don't need Encore's old manufacturing facilities. World Lawn bought Encore so they could sell their Chinese manufactured mowers with an American name on them.

They are cheap because it costs them considerably less to manufacture the mowers in China then it does to manufacture them here.

That's not true, they kept the brands separate and moved a lot of their assembly over here. Do your home work, don't make assumptions because you don't like foreign manufacturers.

Their equipment is not junk.

Encore use to totally dominate here. Then they discontinued there 52" hydro and Ferris started to take over. They are still popular here in the 36" and 48" size but there numbers are getting fewer because until recently they had priced themselves right with everyone else. The machine in the picture is the same machine they have been building for the past 15+years with a diffrent engine.
