It should probably do what you're looking for for at least a little while. I'd try to keep it out of the rain.

The ones exmark uses stop working after a rain or if we get them when washing the mower. They sometimes go upwards of a week before they start to work again. So there are probably a few hundred unrecorded hours on each of my mowers by now.
