Should be able to get a decent one for $100 or so, plus install. Most of the newer trucks the install is easy. Not sure what it's like on yours.

Brake controller

I paid about $65 for mine at the local Farm & Home store. Also, if your truck is pre-wired for a controller, then I would get the pre-wired cable for your truck & controller. If you do a little search, you can probably find a controller & cable from one of the on-line trailer stores.

Hmmm...I did a search and for the units I looked at they didn't have a cable for 2002 Tundras...they started at 2003. Not sure if that's because the truck isn't pre-wired or not. So much easier when it's just a matter of mounting the unit and plugging it in.

Do it yourself. It's simple. You need a main hot wire off the battery and a good ground going to the brake box. Then run a with from brake box to brake light switch (mounted near brake pedal). Then run a wire from brake box to trailer plug mounted on your bumper.

You can handle it.
