Hi guys,

Who here is using google Adwords and how has it worked for you? What key words have you used and how much has it cost? I think I might give it a try for the months of March and April.

I used it last year and I think I was averaging a 1 to 2 dollars a day. It was a great sucess. Monthly bill was like 60 to 70 dollars. I'm re using it again in the spring and all summer. Way better then direct mailer.

New2, if you haven't set up an Adwords account, do so and you can get familiar with the keyword and traffic estimator tools. It's especially helpful to see how people in your area search. "lawn" vs "yard" is a good example of this.

Assuming you have analytics software on your web site (you do have a site, I hope?), take a look at how people are arriving at your site and that will help you refine your campaigns as well.

What else become interesting ... is finding out how much money has to be bid per click for certain words in certain cities.

When I tried Adwords years ago, never had to bid more than like 5 cents to 25 cents per click for almost any keyword.

Now some keywords are in the dollars per click.

A couple of times, recently, I've seen people mention their Adwords experiences and refer to them as "years ago". If you haven't revisited your account and checked out the new features, I'd highly recommend doing so. I would take geo-targeting over broader, cheaper ad spends.

+1 I recently noticed an ad in gmail for a LCO I had never heard of. I clicked on the ad and found it was for a company that operates about 200 miles away. Don't waste your $$.
