Door to door selling and marketing
I was thinking about going and knocking on some doors this weekend to try to pick up some new customers for this year. Do you guys think its too early? And what is the peak time to advertise? I live in Georgia so grass starts greenin up around mid march. I was planning on sending out some direct mail and door hangers around the first week of march. Any thoughts or advice?

not to early. i'm not to far from you, in paulding county.. (i drove out to hampton to pick up a tank sprayer last week) I have been getting a good bit of calls since all that rain stopped. I picked up 3 customers since yesterday. so, i think people are starting to think about there lawns already here.
i say go for it. I just sent off a round of direct mail today as well.

Have you done much door knocking? Is it effective for you? Many years ago I did door to door sales and there were many no's before I got one sale. Very time consuming.
I know that I don't like when strangers come knocking on my door. The dogs get agitated, i have to get up and look through the window first to see if It's the Jehovah's Witnesses again. If I do decide to open the door, i already have a, who the _____ are you and what are you selling attitude. It would have to be one helluva sales pitch to get me out of that state of mind. |

I would suggest not knocking on doors, alot of of people dont like that.

I highly doubt that. If it were we our homes would be inundated with door to door salesman. Instead that marketing technique has all but passed away.
