Spring Clean Up

anyone know what a spring clean up really consists of? cleaning out leaves from winter time, mowing the lawn, fertilizing? what has worked for you and what services do you perform in a "Spring Clean Up"

Ok. You start by power rake the place. Cleanup beds and hedge. Depending on temperature you can spot seed. Up here we can't fertilize till April 15.
So when we go back for the first cut we put down firt, feed plants, and put down
Pre emergent on beds.

To me, spring clean up is either clean out landscape beds and haul away debris OR tine rake the lawn, bag, and haul away the dead clippings. I haven't had anyone ask for the whole schmeer before.

I go over every lawn with a blower as soon as the turf is free of snow and the grass itself has thawed at the surface... this prevents suffocation and clears up snow mold... I put down seed in the bare spots so the freeze/thaw cycle gets them planted and start to grow before the 2nd mowing... fertilize after 2nd mowing... I personally never put pre-m on turf, but if I did it would be for CG and therefore after the 3rd mowing...
When you imitate the big companies like TGCL, you get your timing to be less than ideal... the REASON those companies are "out of sync" with the life of the turf,,, is becuz,,, They have to squeeze lots of applications in that narrow window of time...
We have to wait for all the leaves to come off the oak trees and stop blowing around b4 wasting too much time on final cleanup of the landscaping...
You might want to reconsider removing OM from your lawns... that is another misconception about what is right/wrong about lawncare... think about the need for OM in the soil...
Now that I know that clay's texture(platelets) has nothing to do with water infiltration, percolation, or drainage
,,, I wonder what does...

Spring clean up can be different for each customer. Some have not even had lawn serviced for the whole winter. These clients have to have sticks, pinecones, gum balls and pine straw cleaned up as well. So for me Spring cleanup is a service that varies as does job cost.
