It's funny how miserable some are

I had priced some work for some people. And this is the e-mail in it's entirety that the woman sent me this am (without her name which I omitted)

"No thank you. This estimate is way too high."

LOL - No "thank you for your time". That's ok, Karma will get her.

I also agree.

And also, we'll see when we she gets a few other quotes and they all come in the same range except for the one shitty hack that does it for $10 and she'll be unhappy then too. No winning with people like that.

I certainly hope you didn't waste any time and corrected her. It's not an estimate its a proposal.

No no don't do that. Let her be the "little person" in this situation.

I dont know, at least you got a email as blunt and harsh as it was, then theirs when you submit a proposal and they go dark they don't contact you and a week later just as your thinking about makeing a follow up call , you see someone else doing the work.....both scenarios blow

But you have to take it in stride.... remember the good ones also. Just got this the other day.

"Jeff BTW… so you know I had three quotes. *****'s some guy from Riverside and you. You came in 2nd in price but knowing you had a degree in landscaping and knew the plant life names made you stand out. *****’s been doing my landscaping for 12 years and he’s a nice guy. His guys do really nice work and are pretty friendly. I hope you and I can do business after this and Ill spread the word here in the development which goes a long way. Thanks again."

Its funny too, because after someone sends you a nice note like this, you will take care of them better, and look forward to working with them. ( Im not positive, but I don't think my college degree was in 'landscaping')

Atleast you got a responce, and why sugar coat it? In that persons mind you were higher then what "they" thought the job should be. I'd rather get a responce like that then none at all, or a nastygram . I don't see where it was all that bad, it was up front and probably in there opinion honest. In away nice to see someone not being PC correct or not giving an answer at all. More then likely they'll learn that the work doesn't come for free and if they want it done correct it will cost. On the other hand maybe they got burnt before on a contracting job, and are leery of contracters all together? I know that it has happened to me in the past, and I'm sure I'm not alone.
