I have had my pesticeide license for 3 years now and am still learning a lot but I guess I dont understand why tru green is already making lawn applications here in northern illinois when the ground temp is only around 40 degrees.

Thats why I was wondering because crabgrass does not germinate untill the soil temp is 55 to 60 degrees so you would just be wasting a lot of the crabgrass control and if you put fert down in the fall the grass should still have stored N

Because they care more about the money than their customers lawns. Ever wonder why they have adds on TV, raido, papers, magazines, phone, ect...... all the time? They do not care if what they are doing works as long as they keep getting new customers that have hell when trying to cancel.

This.

Soil temps around here are 35 degrees. Don't think we will hit 60 deg soil temps for QUITE some time. Yet some of the large companies here are flinging pre.

The main reason that P was banned for lawncare... I'm not a Greenie,,,nor do I believe in gov't control over every little thing,,, BUT THEN,,, you see lawncare "pros" doing this, even on frozen slopes overlooking lakes, and I'm glad that they are at least limitted as to how much garbage is going to wash into the lake...

A stewardship for the plant is so far off course,,, that the botanical and horticultural considerations are absolutely violated... Greenieness should be driven by sensible botanical considerations instead of PC mythologies...

TGCL is the leader of wannabees and has the schedule outlined for h.o.s... the h.o.s are out doing the same thing,,, BECAUSE the big boys are doing it...
