Few questions

I picked up a 52 inch stander last year cheap for trade of some stuff I didn't use anymore. The motor is blown (which I knew going in) and I would like some replacement info. It has the 19hp kawasaki engine. The serial number of the unit is 18878. What year unit is this? What is the engine shaft size? And what would be the recommended replacement engine. Thanks!

OSU 09,

Serial 18878 was built on 10/1/02 with a FH601V with a AS14 spec. The engine has a 1" diameter shaft with a length of 3 5/32", try and get this spec as it will be a drop in with no need to change anything but the FH line has been discontinued so they are getting rare. A Kawasaki dealer will likely cross reference to either a FS or FX engine but places like Small Engine Warehouse may still have some FH's in stock. If you can't find a FH601 in the AS14 spec another spec can work but make sure the shaft size is the same as the engine pulley is custom, the wires may not have the correct connectors with another spec but they will still be the same wires so you may have to splice.

Best Regards
Wright Mfg.

Also found a kawasaki FR600V-AS05R. It has the right shaft size. Will the swap out of this engine be pretty basic?

OSU 09,

As long as the shaft (on the FH601V AS05R) is the same the most you will deal with in using another spec is the wiring connectors may not match our harness and will have to be spliced. We have never used the FR line of engines and I beleive they are residential grade so wouldn't recommend using.

Best Regards
