Cub cadet help please

Neighbor came over today. He has a CC tank 48". Said the steering is shimming when going forward. Machine has 319 hours on it and I really feel the hydro fluid has never been changed. Black as black can be. Do y'all think he has a pump going out or it's way past due for a fresh oil change all over. Thanks for your time

That's not way over due. Shoot my oil change in my diesel motor is 250hrs. It sounds like the oil is getting to hot. It should not be black. What do you mean by shimming?

Not moving like it should. It's like it has a miss in the hydros.

The only thing I have done is looked at the oil. I'll check that when I finish my few accounts I have today.

Sounds like air is in the hydro. I would change the oil and filters. Cc says 300hrs. Try to bleed it by jacking the rear up and running one side forward and the other in reverse. Then switch and go the opposite way. Do that for five mins and if that improves the feel of the hydros.

Is this when he first starts moving or all the time when he has the levers all the way forward ?
