This wall has problems.

Anyone see anything super obvious that's wrong with the work? I noticed that 1: The walls are way too close together for a multi tier 2: The client says geogrid was used the second time after it fell over the first time (but how is that possible) 3: He said no drain tile was used, but they did backfill with clear stone 4: Client says no course was buried, so the first course is at ground level.

Am I missing anything else major that should be fixed? I'm thinking of I do everything correctly and move the walls out so that they are further apart, that should fix most of the issue.

Ok, now what?

Looks like a home owner did the job. These things happen. Common here in the United States.

Sorry that is a total rip out. Most likely the homeowner or "contractor" was scared by the potential for an engineer or building permit, so in their mind skirted around it by building 3, 3.5' walls instead of 1, 10' wall. The problem is that is an engineer situation. No issue with tiers in that fashion, but no way is that tiering a substitute for proper installation practices. I would not touch that wall without a plan. There are pressure issues that clearly need to be dealt with.

Thanks for your response! This makes a lot of sense to me. I'm going to tell this to the homeowner and see what he says.

No need for speculation. It is what it is. Remove the wall and start over.

People are do-it-your-selfers. That's life.
