If this wasn't a OEM Gravely hydro filter, Take it back off and look inside the smaller holes for a anti-drainback valve (a rubber disc just inside of the holes).

Just because a filter is the same size and same threads doesn't mean it will work, A engine oil filter With drainback valve will not work in a hydro oil system...... The hydro system must have a free flowing filter without a drainback valve......

Hmmm...... Is there anything else you did/changed during this repair ?

Are you sure the freewheel/dump valve is closed ?

When you say rear seal are you speaking of the one at the driveshaft ?

I'll need both the model and serial numbers to go much further......

The machine moved in the shop, was just leaking out the rear seal, the one at the driveshaft directly above the filter, slid the engine back & replaced the seal and the needle bearing behind it.Has not had hydraulics since.Not sure what you mean about the hyd dump valve.If your talking about those two pins on top of the hydro, one of them is popped up & the other one is still down,didnt try to make it come up, kinda thought it would pop upon its own if it had pressure.Model is promaster 30h, I will have to get back to you tomorrow evening on the serial number,thanks for the help so far, dont give upon me Im kinda new to this forum thing ok.I have been in the farm & lawn business for 35 years, AC, NH, Simplicity, Kubota & so on.Just havent worked on many gravelys, not new to the industry by no means,just looking for help from someone thats had experiance working on this machine. Thanks

30-H isn't a model number per-se, It's kinda like Z28 written on a Camaro......

Model and serial number should look like this; 51100-000101......

OK....... That wasn't what I was talking about but at that time I didn't have numbers to see exactly which hydro pump you have on that unit.

But, I feel this popped valve is your issue...... I suggest cleaning the top of the hydro off real well so nothing drops down into these ports, Then remove both check valves and see if you can then push the popped pin back into place with your finger then perform this test;

If the pin stays down and both pass the spring & leakage test, Re-install and purge as you did before by removing the plug on top......
