Beer yeast

I brew beer as a hobby and have a decent amount of yeast culture left over from the fermentation process. Does any know if this would be beneficial in breaking down thatch or some other benefit for the lawn? I know about Jerry Bakers beer concoction just didn't know if there was any validity to it all.
