lincoln mig 175

I am looking to buy a welder to do small projects and fix things on our landscaping and tree equipment. I have asked around and was told to go with a lincoln sp175. I was wondering what the difference is between that and the lincoln pro mig 175 at lowes. Any help would be appreciated.

no mechanical differences, lowes might come in a different package from what a welding dealer would sell.

ask this @ for a more complete answer and suggestions on machines!!

DerikL: I think vipermanz is correct. I did a good bit of research before I bought my lincoln sp175. The only difference I found is the sp175 PLUS has infinite control over arc voltage, and the others have 4 or 5 set points.

I spent the extra to get the PLUS, but so far, have not found it necessary. It might come in handy if you are trying to weld thin material and need that extra control over the arc.

Good luck!
