quick ?: 5 yards of mulch for.....

How much would you charge to spread 5 yards of mulch if:

1 yard = $27
Delivery = $25

Total = $168.10 (with tax)

These are my costs. I figured $40/yard, so:

$237.00 ??

good? bad? high? low?

My math skills suck, but are you trying to say you want to make 63 bucks doing that whole job? I must be missing something.
I just don't get it with the prices I see mentioned here for installing mulch.
We never talk prices here because I know people like to inflate their numbers, and if you come in too high, it looks like you are just marking up the numbers. We'll cut grass any day of the week over making 13 bucks per yard. There's no money to be made in mulch unless you charge generously for your time and labor.

We make $37/yard.
Your price is bad,low.
$325-$350 would be my price because it is a small job.
Larger jobs get quoted at the per yard figure because there is more volume.

By the way,set up an account some where and stop paying retail for product.

I have an account set up at a local supplier. They give me rainbow mulch for $27/yd. So charging $40/yd to install is low?

I did some refiguring and decided to go with $50/yd. After tax and delivery, the total is $290.00

5yds @ $27/yd = $135.00
+ tax = $143.10
+ del = $168.10

$290 - $168.10 = $121.90 profit

Yes, I would rathe be cutting and making more money, but I have 4 accounts on one street and this lady is on that street. I can have my helper knock out the mulch install while I start on the mowing. I did 5 yards on my own in 2 hours, so hopefully he can do the same and we can get on with the mowing schedule. I like doing mulch installs once in awhile, its a nice change from mow blow n go's.

Same here. It depends on the job and how much traveling in a wheel barrel, and how thick they want it (6" spread out where the dump truck dumps it gets a lower per yard price), but I will charge $55-$70/yd total (usually in the middle). I pay $18-$24 /yard total.

I try to get $45/hour after paying cost of goods sold.
