Hey all, really good day today, passed pesticide/herbicide exam and got the official okeedokie back from the State for the name of my business in Articles of Organization in order to form LLC:

green pro....did you take a class to prepare you?

how much did you study? how was the test? how much prior knowleadge is needed?

I am taking a class that will give me the permit to hire for someone with a license. is that different than what you took?

after a few years, i will be able to spray herbicides.

Jim thanks for the congrats, yep sure am glad to not have that monkey on my back anymore (business name and pest. test) Thing is since I decided to go at this full time this year I have been the happiest in my adult working life, so the hittin' the books has not been all bad, so long as I enjoy what I'm doing.

No class, they offered one but after spending the money for the books, I just couldn't see paying someone else more money for a class ( seemed like something I could do on my own) books were only about $25 so it wasn't a money issue but I guess I can be a little tight to.

how much did you study? how was the test? how much prior knowledge is needed?

The books had a place for notes, but no practice tests/quizzes, so basically I just read and re read the core manual and the category manual (maybe 300 pages all together) I picked books up in early fall and probably read through them about 6 times. I don't know about other states but ours was multiple choice with questions about turfs, woody ornamentals, etc. in regards to diseases, fungus, etc. also calibrating various sprayers, mixing order of differing compatible herb/pest, how much to use of each for spray tank xx big, xx spray per acre, etc. I really had no commercial prior knowledge but like to think I have a quick learning curve :blush:

I can hire someone to spray or spread but they would need to be under my direct supervision (within sight) and after 21 days they also must be certified. My company is registered once a year @ $25 per year, I am on a three year license @ $75 a pop, as long as I go to CIC (continuing instruction course) once a calender year I will only have to pay the license fee and not retest.
