SCAG drive belt
The belt that goes around the shaft on the motor broke on my 48 inch beltdrive mower
it is the belt that connects to the transmission and i was wondering do u have to take the clutch off to replace the belt? |

No.
You do have to remove the engine to deck belt though to get the trans belt off. When you install the new trans belt, don't OVERTENSION it! Loose is better than tight. You'll destroy your transmission if you tighten it too much.

I replaced mine 2 or 3 weeks ago on the 2001 36" Scag Belt Drive, I just loosened the screw on the tentioner and put it on with No Problem, after you take the blade belt off.

How did you get the belt around the clutch w/o removing the belt? You have to loosen the deck drive belt and slip it off the clutch.
