Keep it under $10 for an 8,000 sq ft lawn??? This should have told you something from the get go. Don't walk away.....run.

How can people do this is beyond me . But i guess I'm the one who's seeing it wrong ??? who knows?? But if any one can point out the point please do !!!!!!!!!!!!!! Its like this the other day a local cheap skate asks me if i can do a yard in a small town about 4 mins away for 25 he said it wont take no more then 10 min ok. So i go look at it it hasn't been cut all year and its a good size at least 50X100 and then 75X75 i tell him its 60 dollar when its kept up for that it will be 145 . I thought he was gonna die . I cant play them price game I'm always high and if i get a feeling i go higher and then work it down to still more then what the next guy will pay !!!!!!!!!!!!!! But with some of the prices some of the guys on here use i find it hard to see them doing it for beer money .
different areas will tolerate different prices. I cant get 50 an acre for a 2 acre lawn here when it aint picture perfect but you can beti will mow it for 75 or 80. If i have to make perfect lines and worry about weeds and such it would be more. I have some really nice yards in the city that go for 50 and up for less than an acre just because there is edging (many country properties here have NO edging). Its all about where your from and the image your project as well.

I have to agree with most everyone on this one. When people start talking about not wanting to pay more thank 10.00 - 15.00 for a cut. We have got to as an industry never give into that!!!. If you have a plumbing, electrical, sheetrock, roofing, garage, driveway, flooring or any other home maintenance problem and call someone in that profession to correct the problem, 99% of people will not give a second look at their prices. But because so many have allowed themselves to be talked down, we are all having a hard time getting the prices for lawn and landscaping up to where they SHOULD be. Guys, this effects each and everyone of our standards of living. In my area, it is a rare site for a lawn-landscape owner to be doing very well. However, there are a number of other construction, maintenance industry players who are living high on the hog. The reason...they dont take no BS when they charge.

I agree but one thing is.... people dont have plumbers or electricians knocking on thier doors competing for thier business. You most definatly have more than one LCO competing in your area. Any time there is competition you will see price wars. I agree we should band together and keep prices where they belong but unfortunatly not every LCO is on lawn site. People can price shop for some services. It's like the airline industry and sometimes they go into price wars. It's sad and hurts us all but it seems to be a fact of life and will remain so as long as people with low overhead( Im not going to say the S word) exsist in your market area
