Yoy might be getting a vapor lock condition. Gravely and Kawasaki did a factory bullitin on the routing of the fuel line on some Gravely machines with the same symptoms. See if your fuel line is routed near areas that might get pretty hot.

Mine is doing this too!
I have a Scag walk behind with the Kawi fc420v engine. Mine is doing the exact same thing. I also replaced the coil. After i did it ran for about 15 mins and now it wont restart. i checked the kill switch wire to make sure it wasnt frayed. It's not.
Any ideas fellas? thanks in advance, Wade |

Sounds like possibly valve clearance is too tight.Check valve clearances with engine cold.

Did you ever find the problem?

Since you have eliminate the coil it sounds to me like it is running too rich like a stuck choke or messed up float and needle/seat if that carburetor is equipped with one.
Good luck, Doc |
