Overseeding Bermuda with annual Rye
I was just wondering if any of you have some tips on when I should mow after overseeding with rye on bermuda? I took the bermuda down to under the canopy and seeded and fertilized. The bermuda has pretty well stopped growing right now since a couple freezes and scalping it down some. I also did this last year but with perennial rye and then the weather warmed back up and I had to mow really soon after seeding and it killed out a lot of the seed that was sprouting.
How tall do you let rye get before mowing? Also, is fescue about the same? I overseeded some shady areas to try to form a mix of fescue and bermuda in some areas also. We don't have too much cool season grass here so let me know what is best! THanks! |

We usually mow three weeks after seeding the rye is usually 2"-2-1/2" tall and we take it down to 1-1/2" don't know about fescue.
