Tip Of The Day - 12/1/05 - AOL

Many of you may know this - some of you may not... for those of you using AOL and if you are paying $23.90 a month, call and cancel. An AOL rep will tell you that you can stay as an AOL member for only $7.95 a month. The number to call is 800-827-6364. Hope this helps save a few bucks.

When we had AOL a few years ago they offered me that price. I think they only did it for 3 months and then it reverts back to original price.

I gave up on "Art On Line" back in '96.

Guaranteed $7.95 - price will not go up - asked specifically if it was a promotional price or just a temporary price to keep me around

I'll never go back to them. I had constant problems with staying connected. Problems with even getting on,etc. I switched to MSN and all my problems went away.

$23.90 a month to $7.95 a month. I like there profit margins! Also they only offer B level service, thats a business model that I envy.

My mother-in-law just got high speed hookup for $20 so MSN and AOl dial-up better start lowering the prices or they will be losing more customers.

I would get high speed hookup but you can't get in it in the country unless you go to satellite and that is still to expensive at $50 a month and then we must pay $300 for the equipment and sign up for two years.

Bill,
they went from $24 to $8 they can serve 1/3 the customers and still make the same profit. Work 1 out of 3 days for the same money, that was always my business plan. And $24 is for dial-up [plan B] so when they offer cable which they will in the future they already have a customer base to move to level A sevice at $40 a month. If your use to paying $24 and they offer cable for $40 I bet a whole bunch of people jump on it. Nice up sell on there part. Its a great lesson to learn from.

I use a local web service, I was sick of AOL. Had my computer crash this year, and took it to 2 different computer places. Both places said that AOL is the worst thing you can do for your computer, it puts soo much junk in the computer.
Make matters worse, the web provider I use has DSL for $ .99 more than I'm paying for dialup, but I live in the country, and the phone service Century Tel wont let them go on their line. This week I got a advertisment from century tel, i can get their DSL for $48 per month. My service is $ 14.00!!! What a rip off, same with the phone service....

I don't think I'd pay more than a buck for the crap AOL calls "internet service" I've been using broadband for the past 4 years and find that though it is more expensive it is well worth it. Also helps that I use it for personal use =]
