Over here in NY

The DOT not only want to see different cans, but you MUST write on them gasoline or diesel or whatever

red 5 gallons...regular gas

yellow 5 gallons..diesel

red 2.5 gallons...mixture...we do a number of things...place duct tape around it and take the trusty marker with mix instruction/ratio....spray paint

Not to mention all the gas cans have different places in the trailer...5 gallon gas in back on wall, mixture on shelf in front...diesel (if needed) goes in the back of the pickup...kinda hard to screw it up...six years and no problem...knock on wood
