Depends on whether you are carrying a load or not, and how you operate it. From my observances of the tracked mini-skids they can also tear up a lawn. What do you intend to to with your mini? A few scrapes usually aren't too noticeable

Either machine will tear up the lawn if you counter rotate even if you have turf sensitive tires or tracks. When you turn gradually with either machine you will not tear the turf up too much. If you are in soft material the tracks will do less damage as they have lower ground pressure (~4-5 psi) vs a tire (~8 psi).

Going in a straight line the tracked machine will do much less, if any, damage to a lawn where a machine with tires may leave ruts on softer ground. But when you start making turns they both tear it up just as well.
