I bought an echo 3100 trimmer at a yard sale, how do I put new line on it? I really don't see how to take it apart and I don't have a manual. How often should the end be greased? Thank You

It probably wouldn't be a bad idea to acquire a manual.
You could contact Echo and see if they would be willing to send you out a manual for your trimmer.

Check here at:

Or go to your local Home Depot, spend $10, and get a new Echo brand bump-type line head (pre-loaded) that will have instructions for reloading it next time.

The manual is still a good idea, though.

Echo 3100 wow!

Start the machine look and see weither the head spins clockwise or counter-clockwise, then remove bump head once you've determined the head rotation on the inside of the bump head you'll see C -> or CC <-- pull .95 25ft approx thru eyelets and bring them evenly. Once you've determined head retation wind head accordingly making sure to not twist line keep line side by side and separated, keep tight if head turns clockwise wind inthe direction of C. more thanlikely it turns CC <-- like my 2400's so wind it in the direstion of CC<-- once finished bush the two peices of line in the notches. Look at bump mecanism on trimmer two little nubs must be even with eyelets on head. Syray line w/wd 40 or some type of lube, it'll never bind in the head. Take bump head place the thw ends thruogh the eyelets push bump head down pull on both sides of line evenly and bump should pop! There you have it!
