bermuda and sand
Do any of you grass experts know why bermuda grass likes sand? I have always heard that turf farms grow bermuda on top of sand and also that golf courses dress greens with it.

While I am not framiliar with Bermuda I can tell you why GC's use sand to topdress:
(1) sand does not compact easily, compaction is a big problem on greens and tees. (2) sand " sits down qickly " meaning it flows between the individual stands of turf quickly and dissapears. Jim L
