Pressure Washing

Is it safe to pressure wash the underside of a deck?

I emailed Exmark about that very thing. They advised against it unless I could be certain that pressurized water was not going to hit the spindles. I appreciate their point. I scrape the underside of the deck daily. My machines may not be the cleanest in town, but they are the best running! Not spraying pressurized water into moving parts will keep them that way.
