I wondered if anyone balances their blades after they are sharpened. I am pretty regular with the sharpening and I used to balance, but have gotten out of the habit. I don't think I can tell any difference since I stopped and wondered if anyone else balances their mower blades. I run a Walker mower with a 52" mulching deck.

We never balance our blades and everything is just fine with the spindles .

I usually dont.

I'll balance if I have to get a abnormally large ding worked out though.

Not once in 13 years...it really only matters on a small 21" or so WB.

I always do. I was told a long time ago that it was a must. Never thought to question it. Why would I?

Not in 20 years. Never heard of balancing a blade before this site.

Not balancing a blade will cause excess vibration and potential spindle bearing damage if the blade is far enough out of balance.

I check mine for balance after sharpening. We are getting a lot of replies from those who don't balance the blades.

Do we have anyone who doesn't sharpen the blades or have someone sharpen them ? :-)

I balance mine every day after sharpening and I can tell a difference. I tried going a week one time without balancing and the mower developed a bad vibration and when I checked them the left side blade was out big time. It only takes an extra few to check and balance so I do it.
